CONVEYOR BELTS

A conveyor belt System consists of two or more pulleys, with a continuous loop of a belt that rotates about them. The pulleys help the conveyor belt move and the material on the belt is thus forwarded from the input point to the output. There are two main industrial classes of belt conveyors. First is general material handling such as those moving food products, other products, or unprocessed or under process products, finished unpacked products, boxes etc… along inside a factory. Second is bulk material handling such as transporting industrial and agricultural materials, or solid fuels such as grain, coal, ores, husk, etc. generally in outdoor and longer areas. In addition there are a number of commercial applications of belt conveyors such as those in restaurants, grocery stores and showrooms.

The belt consists of one or more layers of material that can be made out of rubber, PVC, PU, Glass fiber, Plastics and so on. Reinforcement layers are commonly called plies, which can range in numbers from 1 to 6 or even higher for special cases. Covers can be made from the above noted material or uncommon materials such as silicone for unusual applications.

More engineering can be done to the belts; like belts with regularly spaced partitions, known as elevator belts, are used for transporting loose materials up steep inclines. Sidewalls can be provided for preventing the material falling asides. Conveyors are used in other applications like self-unloading bulk freighters and in live bottom trucks. Conveyor technology is also used in Restaurants, Shopping Malls for serving food or displaying food, other products, as well as on many manufacturing assembly lines. Departmental Stores use conveyor belts at the check-out counter to move shopping items to further packing.
